Barcelona concerned as young defender faces injury setback

Landry Farré, 18, was forced off during the reserve team’s derby clash with Espanyol B this past weekend, and the club is anxiously awaiting medical results to determine the severity of the setback.</p><p class="has-text-align-none">“Right now it does not look good,” sources told <a href="https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/preocupacion-lesion-landry-farre-123850728">Diario Sport</a>, highlighting the uncertainty surrounding Farré’s availability. The Martorell-born defender had recently returned from a right ankle injury that sidelined him at the start of the season, making this development especially concerning.</p><p class="has-text-align-none">Farré had been included in Hansi Flick’s senior squad training sessions in recent weeks, filling in amid a string of injuries that have affected both established first-team players and young talents from La Masia. With Xavi Espart out for two to three months after a ligament injury sustained during the joint U19-U18 training match, Barcelona’s depth at right-back is already stretched.</p><p class="has-text-align-none">The young defender is valued for his versatility across the backline, able to cover right-back, left-back, or central defense. Juliano Belletti, coach of Barça Atletic, praised Farré’s adaptability, giving him starts against Girona B, Torrent, and Espanyol B since his return. Another academy talent, Guillem Víctor, has also been called upon as an alternative for the senior team.</p><p class="has-text-align-none">Barcelona’s long-term faith in Farré has been strong. On October 17, he signed a new contract extending his stay at the club until June 2028, reflecting the Blaugrana’s belief in his long-term potential. A member of the 2007 generation that includes stars like Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsí, Farré continues to progress thanks to his physical attributes and technical skills. The club hopes that he will get over this setback, even if it is a larger one.</p>)

ATHENS, Ohio (AP) — Sieh Bangura dashed for a career-high 196 yards rushing and scored two touchdowns, and Ohio took down UMass 42-14 on Tuesday night.
Duncan Brune also ran for 84 yards and two touchdowns, and quarterback Parker Navarro added 81 yards and two scores to round out a 363-yard night on the ground for the Bobcats (7-4, 5-2 Mid-American Conference). Ohio entered ranked 19th in the FBS in rushing offense, averaging 202.7 yards per game.
The Bobcats threw just eight passes against 57 rushing plays.
The Minutemen scored first thanks to Owen Anderson's 10-yard touchdown grab, but Ohio would score on three of their first four drives for a 21-7 halftime lead.
Elijah Pedro also had a 9-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter for UMass (0-11, 0-7). Grant Jordan and Brandon Rose each threw one touchdown pass and one interception.
Ohio holds the edge in the series, 5-0 since 2012.
