Adeyemi to face no sporting consequences for illegal weapon purchase

Palace start contract talks with Richards

![](/<p><a href="https://bearswire.usatoday.com">Chicago Bears</a> head coach Ben Johnson has made his mark very early on in his first season, and for the franchise specifically, he's erasing bad memories of recent history. After starting out the season 0-2 as a head coach, Johnson now has the <a href="https://sportsdata.usatoday.com/football/nfl/teams/chicago-bears/326" target="_blank">Bears</a> at 7-3 through their first 10 games and sitting alone atop in first place of the NFC North division.</p><p>A big part of the team's success this year has come on the road, where they are 4-2 in enemy territory, giving Johnson more wins in his first year than the previous regime. Following their Week 11 win over the Minnesota Vikings in Minnesota, Johnson surpassed former Bears head coach Matt Eberflus for road victories in just one season. </p><p>In his three seasons as head coach with Chicago, Eberflus coached 22 road games but only won three of them, one of many reasons why he was fired after a Thanksgiving loss to the Detroit Lions last year.</p><p>The road wins are incredibly important, showcasing the Bears ability to win in high-pressure atmospheres and they done just as well at home this season, winning three of their first four games at Soldier Field. David Inderlied/dpa</figcaption></figure><p>A legal fine for the attempted illegal possession of weapons will have no sporting consequences for Germany international Karim Adeyemi at Borussia Dortmund, head coach Niko Kovac said on Thursday.</p><p>The club want him to do community work but it will not affect his place in the team.</p><p>"It is no reason for me to ban him for the next few weeks," Kovac told a news conference on Thursday after talks with the winger.</p><p>Adeyemi has revealed he ordered a so-called "mystery box" on the internet at the start of 2024 which he said he did not know contained items that are not permitted "under weapons laws."</p><p>Many months later the package was delivered, and it ended up unopened with the police. He was then given a hefty fine.</p><p>Kovac added: "I am not his father but his coach. People should put things into proper perspective.</p><p>"Everything has now been said about it. The focus is clearly on the Bundesliga. He will get our full support for that."</p><p>Dortmund host VfB Stuttgart on Saturday having lost four times in a row in the league to the south-west club.</p><p>"I can understand that people are bringing this up now. So we should go and win the game," added Kovac.</p>)
